Sheremetyevo customs officers found radioactive aviation watches in the suitcase of a passenger who was flying to China. This was reported by the press service of the Federal Customs Service (FCS).
It is specified that the level of radiation emitted by the watches exceeded the permissible norm by 16 times.
The violator turned out to be a 35-year-old Chinese citizen who passed through the "green" corridor. However, the radiation control system "Amber" worked. During the inspection of the luggage, a portable radiometer-spectrometer showed that the level of radiation was 1.94 microsieverts, which is dangerous to human health.
"The passenger said that he bought the watches at a flea market for personal use. The watches were confiscated and will be sent for examination," the FCS specified.
