Bulgari Unveils New Mechanical Movement for Women's Watches

Bulgari introduces the Lady Solotempo, a new mechanical movement designed for its iconic Serpenti collection.

Bulgari has unveiled its latest innovation in watchmaking: the Lady Solotempo, a new mechanical movement specifically designed for women's watches. This marks a significant step for the brand, as it transitions from quartz to mechanical movements for its iconic Serpenti collection. The Lady Solotempo, also known as the BVS100 Automatic caliber, is the third in-house movement developed by Bulgari for women's timepieces, following the ultra-compact BVL150 Tourbillon and the Piccolissimo.

Robust and Elegant Design

Despite its small size—measuring just 19mm wide and 3.90mm thick—the Lady Solotempo boasts a 50-hour power reserve, a notable improvement over its predecessors. The movement weighs a mere 5 grams and features a self-winding system with an oscillating weight adorned with Serpenti-inspired scales. Its intricate design and robust construction make it a standout in the world of luxury watchmaking.

Redesigned Watch Heads

To accommodate the new movement, Bulgari redesigned the watch heads of its Serpenti Tubogas and Serpenti Seduttori models. The Seduttori, in particular, received a thicker, convex case profile that enhances its tactile appeal. The crown was also enlarged for easier use, ensuring that the mechanical movement is as functional as it is beautiful.

A Movement for the Future

The Lady Solotempo is not just a milestone for Bulgari but also for the LVMH group, as it will be made available to other brands within the conglomerate. Produced by Zenith, the movement reflects Bulgari's commitment to Swiss craftsmanship and its role in supporting the broader watchmaking ecosystem.

Price and Availability

The introduction of the mechanical movement comes with a price increase. The Serpenti Seduttori in steel with a diamond bezel now starts at $10,200 USD, while the rose gold Tubogas model with diamonds ranges from $47,100 to $52,000 USD. Despite the higher cost, Bulgari's dedication to quality and craftsmanship ensures that these timepieces remain a worthwhile investment for discerning collectors.

Final Thoughts

Bulgari's Lady Solotempo is a testament to the brand's ability to innovate while staying true to its heritage. By combining elegance, functionality, and durability, Bulgari has created a movement that not only enhances its iconic Serpenti collection but also sets a new standard for women's mechanical watches.
