Porsche Design has long been synonymous with cutting-edge design and functionality, and their latest release, the Chronograph 1–F.A.T. 2025 Edition, is no exception. This timepiece is a striking evolution of the brand’s iconic 1972 all-black chronograph, blending modern innovation with a nod to its storied past.
The new Chronograph 1 features a 40.8mm black titanium carbide case, but with a twist: a fully luminescent white dial coated in Super-LumiNova. This design choice not only sets it apart visually but also ensures maximum readability in low-light conditions. The watch’s indices and hands are designed to contrast sharply against the dial, making it ideal for extreme environments—whether you’re racing on ice or navigating a dark, smoky room.
Porsche Design has packed this watch with subtle nods to its heritage. The hour counter features a silhouette of the legendary Porsche 962, while the subdial at 6 o’clock discreetly displays “962.” The English day display replaces “SAT” and “SUN” with “F.A.T.” in bold red, a playful reference to the brand’s motorsport roots. Even the date window includes the F.A.T. International logo, further cementing the collaboration’s authenticity.
The F.A.T. partnership is a key highlight of this release. Founded in 1928 as a logistics company, F.A.T. has become a symbol of motorsport culture, best known for its iconic Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria. The watch is available with several strap options, including a matte black titanium bracelet, a white textile strap with the F.A.T. Ice Race badge, and a unique violet “F.A.T. Mankei Strap,” inspired by the brand’s hospitality venture in the Austrian Alps.
Under the hood, the Chronograph 1 is powered by the Porsche Design WERK 01.240 movement, ensuring precision and reliability. Priced at $11,500, this watch is a statement piece for those who appreciate the intersection of design, heritage, and performance.
With its bold aesthetics and functional brilliance, the Porsche Design Chronograph 1–F.A.T. 2025 Edition is more than just a watch—it’s a celebration of motorsport history and a testament to the brand’s enduring legacy.
